You wrote your book because there was an undeniable need within you. Now, you want to share it with the rest of the world. The problem is it can be hard to get people to read your book, no matter how good it may be. There’s no shortage of books available, after all, and competition for eyeballs can be pretty fierce. However, there are things you can do that’ll push your reader numbers in the right direction. Here are four great techniques to try.

Get Reviews

People want to be reassured they’re buying something that’s worth their time. When it comes to books, the blurb alone won’t be enough to snag readers. They’ll need to know it has been independently verified as “quality.” So, how does this happen? By getting reviews, of course! You can send your book out to people for free in exchange for reviews. If your book is as good as you think it is, then you’ll get plenty of positive feedback. But be warned: you most likely will receive some negative feedback. Don’t pay too much attention to it — it happens to all authors!

Giveaways and Promotions

Who doesn’t love getting something for free? We all do. And if you’re a reader, then there’ll be nothing better than a free book! While you might not love the idea of giving away your book, it is extremely useful. An Instagram giveaway can help to build your followers list, after all. It’s also recommended to look at discounting your book from time to time. You’ll see a surge of orders during the heavily discounted periods.

Global Appeal

It’s possible that you’re leaving a huge chunk of your potential readers on the table and don’t even realize it. If your book is only in one language, then your book will be out of reach for the majority of the world who do not speak your language (which is true no matter what language your book is in). The solution? Hire a company to perform a translation of your book. You’ll want to do some research first to check that there’s a market for your book first. But if there is, then that could be a highly effective way to boost your audience.

Podcasts and Interviews

The more people get to hear you speak, the more they’ll be interested in hearing what you have to say. Interviews and podcasts are a great way to get your broader ideas out into the world. It’s best to focus exclusively on the themes and ideas of your work or the authors who inspired your work. If the people hear something that resonates with them, then they’ll be likely to check out your work. The more interviews you do, the better. It may be a little tiring, and also might not necessarily be something that you love, but it’ll be worth it!
